Accounting Manager

The Oklahoma City Thunder is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our accounting department! The Accounting Manager will work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of month-end close for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Oklahoma City Blue, Thunder Community Foundation, and Thunder Fellows. You will interact with multiple departments and external partners to guarantee precise financial reporting. This position requires a commitment to confidentiality and the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

In this role you will:

  • Ensure month-end close deadlines are met by guiding and managing the accounting team alongside the Assistant Controller during the closing process
  • Report daily cash activity to Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
  • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly and record cash entries as needed
  • Prepare, review, and post daily and monthly general ledger entries
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and research discrepancies
  • Maintain fixed asset records by ensuring completion and approval of capital expenditure forms, useful life assignments, and depreciation schedules
  • Calculate and file sales tax & state ticket fees
  • Prepare monthly sales commissions
  • Review sales and on-account purchases for proper payment, communicating with the merchandising partner to resolve discrepancies
  • File unclaimed property
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minimum of four years of experience
  • Non-Profit experience a plus
  • Knowledge of Great Plains Dynamics is preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Windows-based software
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to process confidential and sensitive monetary matters
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and dynamic environment
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Additional details:

The primary work location is the Thunder’s corporate office located in downtown Oklahoma City. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Controller.
