Description
Café Con is a series of informal meetings with CEO's and Community leaders that help give you insight of how to grow and keep your business successful.
Dr. Jamie C. Polk, Superintendent of Oklahoma City Public Schools (OKCPS), is a proven
leader with a passion for equity, excellence, and student success. With more than 30 years of
experience in education, she brings a strategic, student-centered approach to her work, always
focused on creating opportunities that help all children thrive. Today, she leads Oklahoma’s
largest school district, serving more than 33,000 students with a vision for equitable,
data-informed systems that improve outcomes for every learner.
Before becoming Superintendent, Dr. Polk served as OKCPS’s Assistant Superintendent for
Pre-K through 4th Grade, where she designed and implemented data-driven strategies that
significantly improved student performance. Her efforts helped the district move the needle on
its A-F State Report Card by reducing failing grades and building strong support systems for
schools and teachers. She is widely recognized for her ability to develop talent, align resources
with student needs, and create sustainable improvements that last.
Dr. Polk’s leadership journey began long before OKCPS. In Lawton Public Schools, she served
as Assistant Superintendent for Pre-K through 12th Grade, where her strategic planning and
focus on closing achievement gaps earned national recognition, including the prestigious
National Title I Distinguished School award. Her work has consistently centered on equity,
operational alignment, and continuous improvement ensuring progress for every student, no
matter their background.
Under Dr. Polk’s leadership, school districts have not only achieved academic gains but also
strengthened financial stability, setting records in local revenue and earning recognition for fiscal
responsibility, innovation, and efficiency. She is deeply committed to collaboration and
community, serving on numerous boards and committees that support education, civic
engagement, and youth development, including the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber of
Commerce, United Way of Central Oklahoma, Council of Great City Schools, and the Girl
Scouts of Western Oklahoma, among others.
In addition to her work as a district leader, Dr. Polk has shared her expertise as an adjunct
professor at the University of Virginia, Southern Nazarene University, and Cameron University
helping to shape the next generation of educators and leaders.
A proud military spouse of 40 years to retired U.S. Army Staff Sergeant Chris Polk, and mother
to three children, Dr. Polk is also known as “Diva” to her beloved grandchildren, Jonathan,
Kathryn, and Eolus IV. She remains driven by a single mission: building strong systems and
supports so that every student in Oklahoma City has the opportunity to succeed. Her leadership
reflects a deep belief in equity, strategic innovation, and the power of partnerships to transform
public education.
