Description
What is Latino Leadership OKC?
LLOKC is a leadership program of the Greater Oklahoma City Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Participants are Latinos from a broad range of organizations representing the private, nonprofit, and Government sectors. Over the course of the LLOKC program, class members learn and practice the tools for being effective community leaders and volunteers.
Program Goals
-Increase participant's capacity for, commitment to and involvement in community activities in central Oklahoma.
-Increase participant's overall capacity for leadership roles by teaching community leadership skills.
-Increase participant's network of peers and established community figures.
-Provide volunteer support to local community projects.
Program Activities
-Class: Participants will be invited to a welcoming Reception and meet once a month for 6 sessions
and attend the graduation. Classes will begin from 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Class sessions will include, an interactive mix of activities designed to teach community leadership skills through exposure to local examples, presentation of techniques and processes, and practice in the skill.
-Optional Activities: Each LLOKC program will include optional activities such as social events, additional community experiences and selected Oklahoma City Events. A small charge to cover the cost of the event may be included.

Selection Criteria
-Applicants must be over 21 years old
-Applicants must live, work or have demonstrated substantial interest in Oklahoma City
-Must be of Latino descent or bilingual English/Spanish
Applications will be judged on the basis of:
-Commitment and motivation to serve the central Oklahoma area
-Potential to rise to a substantial civic leadership role
-Representation of particular segment of society, including occupation, gender, race or ethnic (Type
of Latino) background, geographic demographics, and any other characteristic as appropriate
Selection Timetable
-Mailed applications must be postmarked by Monday February 15th or hand delivered by Monday February 15th by 5:00 PM.
-Applicants will be notified of admission status no later than Friday February 26th
The remaining 6 class sessions will be held at different locations throughout Oklahoma City from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with the last class taking place from 7:00 AM to - 5:00 PM. at the Expo
-Agendas with exact locations and maps will be posted electronically about 10 days before
each event.
No more than two absences are permitted for the six regular class sessions, missing more than half of a session counts as an absence.
